TRA 2018 - Welcome to Vienna!

From 16.-19. April 2018 Europes biggest Transport Research Conference, the Transport Research Arena, will take place in Vienna. Under the motto "a digital era for transport. solutions for society, economy and environment" about 3.000 international experts will discuss about the latest research results and future developments in mobility and transport.

The Transport Research Arena (TRA), initiated in 2006, takes place every two years in another European city. The TRA is supported by the European Commission, the European Technology Platforms ERTRAC (European Road Transport Research Advisory Council), ERRAC (European Rail Research Advisory Council), WATERBORNE as well as CEDR (Conference of European Directors of Roads) and ALICE (Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration).

Reed exhibitions Messe Wien is one of the most modern exhibition and congress centres. For the Transport Research Arena 2018, the exhibition hall with more than 9,000 m² space offers various possibilities for the industrial exhibition, meeting and networking areas as well as indoor demonstrations. The congress area additionally offers up to 24 rooms for plenary and scientific sessions. With a metro station right in front of the building, the connection to public transport is excellent, restaurants and hotels are in the near vicinity.

This open Arena is the common platform for the surface transport stakeholders, the place where all the relevant organizations meet, discuss and develop cooperation. Under the motto “a digital era for transport” the TRA 2018 will explore the new promising opportunities that digitalization offers for transport. Additionally to the conference and the exhibitions, the TRA 2018 will focus on live demonstrations, to give an insight into current research results and mobility solutions.

Initiated by the Austrian Ministry for Transport, Innvation and Technology, the TRA 2018 will take place in Vienna. To organise this event, the Ministry will be supported by AustriaTech and AIT - Austrian Institute of Technology. Therefore three committees will work together:
