There are many spots where electric cars can be parked without charge in Austria. This is one more step towards the promotion of E-Mobility within Austria. However, even if there is no parking fee, legal prerequisites have to be observed. The vehicle may be parked free of charge within the permitted maximum parking period. In addition, different provisions apply in different municipalities as to how the electric car has to be indicated (for example by a „green“ license plate, a separate badge or otherwise). ÖAMTC has put together a list of all municipalities in which it is possible to park electric cars free of charge:
Lower Austria: Klosterneuburg, Krems, Melk, Mödling, Neunkirchen and Perchtoldsdorf
Upper Austria: Freistadt (in preparation), Gmunden (in preparation), Linz and Wels
Styria: Graz, Gleisdorf, Weiz and Hartberg
Carinthia: Klagenfurt, Villach, St. Veit, Wolfsberg and Krumpendorf
Tyrol: Innsbruck and Wörgl
Salzburg: Salzburg Stadt (in preparation) and Zell am See
