The kick-off meeting of C-Roads took place at 12th december 2016 in Brussel. There the C-Roads project was official started by signing an agreement and the C-Roads platform was lunched.
The aim of C-Roads is to establish cooperative-intelligent transport system-services (C-ITS) in a harmonised way all over Europe. The C-Roads Platform is also building the foundations for connected and automated vehicles.
The European Union (European Commission) is supporting the project and with that, pushing forward their commitment to make the road transport sector safer, greener and more efficient.
In a first step the C-Roads agreement was signed by eight states: Austria, Belgium / Flanders, Czech Republic, Germany, France, The Netherlands, Slovenia and UK. Other states are invited to follow.
In Austria, ASFINAG is responsible for the deployment of the services from the C-Roads pilot.
The duration of the project is five years.
